Abstract: |
The article discusses the history of the Korean peninsula, particularly how regional powers competed for control over the peninsula that led to the First Sino-Japanese War (1894-1895) and the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905). Also cited are the foreign policy of seclusion adopted by Korea's Choson dynasty until 1637, and how the Second Opium War (1856-1860) affected Korea's relationship with Russia. |
